Jio, India’s largest internet service provider, on Thursday announced a partnership with Reliance Communications to launch a new website for its Indian users.
The new website, called React Native World, will feature the new Jio app, with features such as instant messaging and online shopping, and will be available to users who have opted for the Jio Free Mobile Plan.
Reliance will offer the free plan to the remaining Jio customers who do not want to upgrade to the Jios Free Mobile plan.
Jio will also offer its own version of React Native for mobile users to use.
Jio also plans to offer its Free Mobile plans to users in the UK and US in April.
Users can register on the website at a cost of Rs 3,000 ($4,000), and will get a free Jio App on top of the Free Mobile Plans, said a statement from Reliance.JIO, which is the world’s largest telecom operator, said it had a very good first quarter, with revenues of Rs 2,98,000 crore ($5.19 trillion) for the period ended March 31.
Its network is the largest in the world, accounting for about 40% of India’s total broadband subscribers, the statement said.
The company also said that it is planning to launch the JiaWifi app in April, which will be based on React Native.
Jiawifi, which was developed by Jio Technologies Pvt.
Ltd, will be the first of Reliance’s apps to be developed by its Indian developers, said the statement.
The Jio partnership comes amid a surge in interest in React Native among developers and developers in India.
Earlier this month, Jio announced plans to launch its own React Native app in the country.
